The Ministry of Education is adomant in ensuring that teachers are adequately trained to prepare students for the Performance Task to be held on March 27 and 28, 2019. Efforts to increase the number of workshops in each constituency is evident.
While students and teachers from Grades 1-5 are off from school on mid-term break, Grade 6 teachers will attend a grand workshop alloted for teachers in the St Catherine region. It will be held at the Open Bible Chruch at Twickenham Park on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

The workshop will seek to address issues teachers are currently having with preparing students for the examination and provide solutions through inducing practices that will help teachers better cope with challenges such as bringing out student’s ininate thinking skill and tackling the problem of “slow learners”. The workshop will also highlight the framework of the Performance Task that class teachers will administer instead of the ministry-based invigilator. All teachers are advised to attend. Afterall, the Ministry of Education wants to do everything it can possible do to prepare the teachers at the last minute.
Other workshops are scheduled later on this month ahead of phase two of the Primary Exit Profile (PEP). We can only hope that the nation’s Grade 6 student will be adequately prepared come March 27 and are geared up to do some critical thinking.
